Opened 10 Jul 2025

Overview

IHACPA has released the Consultation Paper on the Pricing Framework for Australian Residential Aged Care Services 2026–27. We invite you to have your say, with public consultation now open.

Everyone with an interest in aged care is encouraged to have their say.

To ensure all areas of residential aged care are represented, we are particularly interested in hearing from:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • providers in regional, rural and remote areas
  • people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Multi-Purpose Services Program (MPSP) providers
  • National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program (NATSIFACP) providers
  • residents and their families, carers and people representing those utilising residential aged care.

Have your say

The consultation covers many key areas, including:

  • IHACPA’s cost collections
  • the assessment of the MPSP funding model
  • the assessment of the NATSIFACP funding model
  • residential aged care supplements
  • required hotel services.

We welcome general feedback on matters about residential aged care and residential respite care. However, feedback on the specific questions asked in the consultation paper is encouraged.

The online survey includes all 5 questions from the consultation paper. You need only respond to questions of interest or relevance to you. You do not need to respond to all questions. Where relevant, your submission should include examples or supporting evidence to support your responses.

We have also included some questions that seek information about you, your role and your perspective. Answers to these questions will help us to further understand your responses.

We ask you to provide your name and email contact details so that we may contact you if we have any questions about your feedback.

What happens next

We will use feedback from this public consultation to develop our Pricing Framework for Australian Residential Aged Care Services 2026–27 and pricing and costing advice to the Australian Government.

The pricing framework outlines our approach to developing pricing and costing advice for residential aged care and residential respite care services. The pricing framework ensures our pricing advice is based on evidence and data.

By having your say, you can help us develop pricing advice that is fair and transparent, now and into the future.
